Description

from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion%27s_roar_(instrument)
The lion’s roar is a membranophone instrument that has a drum head and a cord or horsehair passing through it.
It gets its name from the sound it produces, which closely resembles a lion’s roar.

Two microphones have been used recording this instrument.
One DPA4060 inside the drum and one AKG 414 approx one meter from the drum.
The audio was recorded in 96kHz/24-bit and have been converted to 48kHz/24bit before added to the instrument.
Both microphones were recorded as omnis and in the interface their volume is controlled by the left and middle knobs “DPA” and “AKG”.
The rightmost knob, “REV”, is a built in convolution reverb using a Bricasti impulse.

Please note that the reverb need signal from at least one of the other two channels to work.
IE you must send something into the reverb channel to hear the effect.

This instrument, or its roar, was created for a specific episode of “Mysteriet på Barnkanalen”, a children’s show that will air sometime in 2017 on SVT Barnkanalen.
